EPA Building Demolished, New Facility to be Built

“We have lost a long time building in our community. It was a private business, which was part of the Hertel Turtle Days. When I grew up, we had events such as the decorated bike parade – which took place right down Highway 70! There were also turtle races, softball tournaments, and a greased pig contest – which was the most fun thing to watch, in my opinion. Papa John’s made turtle soup for the Hertel Turtle Club Members. It cost only $1 for a membership. But, we have bigger and better buildings coming now to better accommodate our EPA Department’s staff and programs.”
