Youth Council
St. Croix Tribal Youth ages 14-17 are invited to join the St. Croix Tribal Youth Council. Members of Youth Council engage in opportunities related to Positive Youth Development, building leadership skills, and supporting their communities.
The purpose of the St. Croix Tribal Youth Council: “Through their collective advocacy and action, the youth can serve as a catalyst to bring about positive change for the Tribe.”
Below you will find the Schedule, Registration Form, Activity Logs, Resolutions, and Bylaws related to Youth Council. Youth are considered Active Members of the St. Croix Tribal Youth Council if they have submitted the yearly Registration Form and attend at least four meetings/functions in a calendar year.
TRAILS
The TRAILS Program serves youth and families with positive activities related to celebrating culture, empowering youth, promoting Traditional Native American Lifeways and providing prevention education. The TRAILS Program provides a variety of activities and events such as the TRAILS Youth Conference & Powwow, TRAILS Youth & Family Camp, and seasonal events (spearing, ricing, fishing, gathering, and more).
YES Program
The YES Program is a Career Exploration and Cultural Education program for youth ages 14-17 who are tribal members, descendants or non-Native youth who have parents/guardians that are employed through the St. Croix Tribe. The program includes 6 weeks of career exploration and education for which youth receive a monetary stipend based on participation.
Career Exploration Days takes place two days per week through job-shadowing and experiential learning within Tribal Departments and Local Businesses. Education Days take place once per week during which youth participate in workshops and presentations related to career readiness, college readiness, Treaty Rights, cultural arts, personal finance, and more.
