Vice President Harris Announces Newly Available Tribal Broadband Funding
Last week, Vice President Kamala Harris hosted a tribal leaders’ teleconference announcing new tribal broadband funding opportunities from the National Telecommunications Administration (NTIA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The NTIA announced more than $646 million in awards will go out during the month of August and that is will make an additional $1 billion in funding available from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to those who have submitted applications for the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program.
Additionally, the Vice-President encouraged those living on tribal lands to apply to the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which is a new FCC program that provides:
Up to $75/month for eligible households on qualifying tribal lands;
$30/month discount for eligible households that are not on qualifying Tribal Lands; and
A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider.
