YES Program – Korean Exchange Cultural Event
The Korean Exchange Cultural Event was held August 3rd-5th at Eagles Landing Campground. The YES Program has been unable to have this event since 2019 due to COVID-19. Korean guests arrived on Wednesday, August 3rd. On Thursday, August 4th, YES students had the opportunity to get their nails done and they made orange shirts that said, “Every Child Matters” to wear to school on September 30th. Lester Merrill gave a presentation on the eagle feather and the Korean group made a special lunch offering their traditional foods. In the afternoon, YES students bagged up sage.
Friday brought a pow wow and Korean dance performances. Many YES students dressed in their regalia and danced. It was a great time for all. There was a YES award ceremony that followed, with students receiving a completion award. Some YES students received other awards for performance above and beyond. Education is very proud of the YES Students and looks forward to having many back next summer.
