The Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs (OPIA) serves as the central office for government relations, strategic communications, and public engagement. The OPIA promotes and protects the Tribe's interests by building strong relationships with federal, state, local, and Tribal governments while ensuring timely, transparent, and culturally respectful communication with Tribal Members, employees, community partners, the media, and the public. Through coordinated advocacy and messaging at the local, regional, and national levels, the office advances Tribal sovereignty, enhances public understanding of the Tribal government and its programs, and strengthens trust between the Tribe and those it serves. The OPIA will be the Tribe’s voice, advocate, and relationship builder, ultimately ensuring the advancement of the Tribe’s mission.

- Build productive relationships with elected officials and government agencies.
- Monitor legislation and policies affecting the Tribe.
- Keep Tribal Members informed of government actions and services.
- Encourage civic participation and community involvement (elections & voting).
- Prepare proclamations, legislative updates, and public education material.
- Build positive relationships in and out of the organization.
- Advise Tribal leadership on communications strategy and public policy messaging.
- Provide consistent and accurate information, strengthen public trust through transparency and professionalism.
- Deliver unified message.
