Tribal Banishments
Banishment is a serious action taken by the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin to protect the safety, integrity, and well-being of our Tribal Nation. This process is guided by our constitution, Tribal Codes, and the principles of fairness and due process.
How Banishment Decisions Are Made
The Tribal Council may enact banishment when an individual’s actions pose a significant threat to the health, safety, or harmony of the community. Each case is reviewed carefully, with consideration of evidence, the severity of actions, and the impact on the Tribe.
Public Record of Banishment Actions
The list of individuals currently under banishment is maintained as a public record for the safety of our community. This document is reviewed and updated regularly to ensure accuracy.
Support and the Right to Appeal
Individuals and families impacted by banishment have the right to request reconsideration or appeal according to Tribal law. Support services and resources are available to help navigate this process with dignity and respect.
